Points Or Cash? I Have Been Doing This Wrong For Years
A dumb-simple rule that finally made hotel points make sense to me.
For years I hoarded hotel points like they were going to appreciate. They do not. They quietly get worth less every year.
The rule I use now: divide the cash price by the point price. If you are getting less than a cent per point, pay cash. If you are getting well over a cent, burn the points.
That is it. That is the whole system. It took me an embarrassing amount of time and several bad redemptions to land on it.

Probably food. Maybe a building. Possibly something stupid.
